Visualizing Evictions and Corporate Landlord Influence in Massachusetts
Building on prior research on racial inequities in Massachusetts evictions, this study explores the spatial and systemic dynamics of housing displacement, focusing on the role of corporate and absentee landlords in eviction patterns. Using multimodal data visualization, including GIS mapping, eviction records, and property ownership databases, this research aims to reveal the geographic concentration of evictions, the power structures behind housing instability, and the relationship between corporate ownership and displacement rates. By integrating machine learning techniques and interactive dashboards, this study provides a participatory and transparent lens for policymakers, housing advocates, and researchers to understand eviction patterns, corporate control over rental properties, and their broader socioeconomic impacts. The findings will contribute to data-driven policy recommendations aimed at promoting housing justice, tenant protections, and equitable urban development.
